A kiss goodbye

There are some things you learn without ever realising that you learnt them or appreciating them.

As a child I always remember that when Mum or Dad was leaving the house there would always be a kiss goodbye – off to work or wherever, it didn’t matter. It just happened…I thought it was normal.

Moving on….in my ‘marriage’ it never happened – hell half the time I wouldn’t even know he HAD left the house til he came back.

I just found out today that a friend lost her dh tragically, unexpectedly (totally unfair the world just sucks sometimes) and it occurred to me that that lesson of my parents – and I’m sure they don’t even realise they taught it – really does matter. If we always pass with a kiss or a hug from our loved ones then if/when something happens we will have parted with love and affection…I’m rambling….but do me a favour and if you have someone in your life who you love – remember to tell them you love them.

My mum always tells the story of an aunt (I think) who would get up every morning to see her hubby off to work, and the one day after years and years and years that she didn’t, he had an accident and died.

    Thanks for the reminder Jude.
