Owen’s first day (ok first two days)

so he got up and dressed in time. We made it to do the daycare drop off and still had time to come home and get the hat he forgot. Then we headed to kinder to drop off the t-shirts – this, however, had not been prearranged and after waiting a little they weren’t there so we decided to head to school and do that after. So then took this picture on the way to school…

dscf4788a.jpg now do you notice anything missing? yup left his hat in the CAR!

They started the day with a full school assembly – about 160 kids. Owen coped ok with that (I think it helped that preppys line up at the front so they didn’t really ‘see’ the kids behind them. He went in just fine and came out with a painting and a picture (of a house) and a sticker on his shirt and basically looking very pleased with himself.

I didn’t get too many good shots but there is one more of the two of them together (Brett doesn’t start kinder until Tuesday really but had his gear on for the kinder interviews – because basically he has been busting to wear it).

School finished at 12.50 so we decided that while Corey was at daycare was a good chance to check out the newly refurbished Werribee Outdoor Pool. So we went for a swim/muck about…and well I haven’t been in the water for years….Mummy could do with some swim lessons too when I find the time and the $$!

Then we picked up Corey and came home and had lasagne for dinner at the table followed by a biscuit for dessert. Corey decided that the horse would eat his biscuit

dscf4792.jpgnow I know – lasagne all over his face and stuff but look at that little imagination. Owen never did that at this age. I just love this little man to bits and he seems to be doing everything sooooo fast. Not 2.5 yet and full sentences and pretend play and cuddles and kisses….oh and attitude and his famous words ‘no cuddle’ and ‘no nigh nigh, no bed, nooooooo’ (followed by gentle snoring about 2min later).

Today Owen came home with a reader…and he read it…woohooo! he is a bit proud of himself!

Ever so mundane….

so I spent my morning grumbling that the kids wouldn’t get dressed, then went to the shops where they were pretty good for a bit then went crazy (possibly given that it was past lunch time and I hadn’t realised). So home and then Corey goes to bed and the other two decide to drive me up the wall with general naughtiness while I’m sewing the bloody red smock (which is now done – not perfect but it’ll do).

In the end had to rush them to bed without the time to do things properly. But the school clothes are laid out and kinder clothes for Brett. The school bag is packed with all the things he is supposed to take with him (well lunch box still to go in).  The kinder t-shirts and hats (for the other kids) are sorted, bagged and labelled and in the car.

So the plan for tomorrow is to get up dressed, breakfasted and out of the house by 8am to get Corey to daycare then pop into kinder to drop off the shirts/hats. We will leave the car at kinder and walk across to school then walk back to kinder by 11am for kinder ‘interview’ then back to school (kinder thing finishes at 12.30 and school at 12.50) then back to get the car from kinder and back home til it’s time to pick up Corey.

Owen has been so silly today and then teary and worried about school – I don’t know if that is just normal anxiety or perhaps he is worse than some but the excitement has definitely  been replaced with anxiety with just the odd glimpse of excitement -hope it all works out for him.

Still waiting on builder to assess damage to wall from water leaks. Now have two claims for the same damn wall and will have to pay two lots of excess because it was two leaks – it is going to get complicated really.

Owen’s autism assessment has been half done – he had his cognitive assessment last Friday and I go in this Friday to do the whole developmental interview bit – not expecting any answers til I get the report 6-8 weeks later but who knows there may be an indication verbally just not expecting it.

so I spent most of my day cranky and irritable over what really is trivial things…bigger things were happening behind other doors for other people that were so much more horrible than my less than perfect day.

but life goes on…and we do the best with what we have and just keep on going on…what other option do we have really.

just a teaser…

I decided to turn the 5 playgrounds in 5 days photos into a mini book…

so here is a teaser – just the front cover…the rest isn’t done yet as after the 1st days photos the printer cracked a wobbly so will have to try to finish it over the next few days.

I used the Stampin’ Up! markers (pumpkin pie and taken with teal) to colour the grungeboard 5’s – the paper is from a range called ‘orangeaide’ from Pink Martini5 in 5 front cover

Going to bed….oh so tired…

I wasn’t going to go…I was going to be sensible….but I caved….I was silly….and I had fun!

Went to A Scrappe Angels Heaven Midnight Madness crop – 12midnight til 10am (only I got there around 7pm so got an early start).

I got 4 Layouts done and a good start on a ‘5 playgrounds in 5 days’ mini album….will share soon – or photos at least but right now I really need to go to bed! got the kids back at 2pm so haven’t been to sleep at all.

yes we made it to 4 in 4…and a funny story.

So we did make it to another new playground today – the one in Orchid place that Steph mentioned – kids loved it (I had to find out where Orchid place is – not far from here though).

But a funny story to share with you….

Firstly for those that don’t know Master Brett is terrified of spiders. We have had a few issues – like he can’t flush the toilet if there is a ‘spider long legs’ on the wall and the like.  The other day I answered a distressed call of ‘somebody save me’ coming from the toilet.  There was Brett sitting half in the loo and half on the rim…it seems he decided to sit without putting the seat down but then a spider (black and ugly but not BIG) had crawled over near the toilet door – he had panicked and moved and the seat had then fallen on top of him and he had half fallen in.  But super mummy to the rescue – squashed and removed spider and corrected toilet seat issue…..was a struggle to decide to go for the shoe though…I really wanted to reach for the camera instead!

3 in 3 days

yes we made it – just ….

spent all of the afternoon waiting for the plumber – again – this time leaking outdoor tap – same wall. He is coming back tomorrow to knock out some bricks so he can get to it to fix it yay!

but after daycare as much as I wanted to drive through somewhere and go home I made myself head to the local richmond crescent playground instead. We played for about 30min or so before coming home for dinner and bed. Kids loved it although really not designed for littlies as Corey struggled in places…must download some pics soon or you will all think I’m making these playgrounds up.

2 in two DONE

yes two playgrounds in two days….photographic evidence to follow.

Yesterday we did the Powell St? playground in Hoppers – the kids loved the old fashioned whirlygig thingo.

Today we did Presidents Park – rebuilt for the umptenth time since it was burnt by vandals. I must say I actually like the current incarnation.  We also followed the path down to a little lake which the kids loved and I feared Corey would go in…but he did in fact stay dry!

Just tried to tackle some lawn mowing but the mower was REALLY struggling in the long grass. It coped better last time so hoping that it just needs a charge (cordless electric) so it is charging and maybe I’ll have another bash tomorrow – even if I mow for 15-20min a day well there is my exercise requirement for the day AND I might even just get the back yard back into shape – although the whipper snipper is called for two. still no need to do it all in one day i guess – a bit at a time is better than nothing.

A playground a day for a week…can we do it?

the kids were driving me insane today at the shops.

then I remembered it had rained most of the weekend while they were at their dad’s so I’m thinking they need to get out and play…we hit the playground….it was so much fun…just a little one we haven’t all been to in ages (a little out of our way) but it gave me an idea…

can we do a different playground each day for the rest of the week? (as in Friday – not the weekend lol)

so 5 in 5 – with photographic evidence (must charge the camera batteries) who thinks we can do it?

thought I’d do this again… a year on.

Have been going through my past blog messages a bit and I found these questions that I did at the start of 2007 and thought I’d change the dates and answer them again – just for fun.

1. What did you do in 2007 that you’d never done before?
I joined a kindergarten committee – as president even, and I signed up as a Stampin Up demo.
2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
again not sure what they were really but this year I am making some in Feb as Jan is just too hectic!

organisational skills (and money would be nice) wouldn’t say no to a nice loveable bloke…
7. What dates from 2007 remain etched in your memory and why?
no date in particular I think I was just busy all year – of course it will only get busier

still not organised
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

sinus infection that pretty much was on/off all year

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Owen’s leapster
12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
certainly not my boys!
13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
A bunch of nasty scrapbookers who anonymously bagged people on blogs
and my own frustration and inability to deal with it without yelling sometimes…oh dear I don’t think I need to change this from last year…
14. Where did most of your money go?

mortgage, car,  internet connections, xmas pressies for the kids……….oh ok and a chunk went to various scrapbooking supply stores and a whole bunch to Stampin Up

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Top50, Stampin Up! and seeing my friends
16. What song will always remind you of 2007?
hmm ‘We wish you a Merry Christmas’ cause Owen SANG!
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:a) happier or sadder? b) thinner or fatter? c) richer or poorer?
happier, neither thinner nor fatter, poorer…oops!
18. What do you wish you’d done more of?
just playing with the kids and walking to kinder – we got a bit slack and drove a lot
19. What do you wish you’d done less of?
yelling
20. How will you be spending Christmas?
spent it at home alone in the morning then with my boys in the afternoon and then all over again properly two days later at my sisters.

none don’t watch tv anymore

24. What did you want and get?
a new chance to grab life by the throat and live it
25. What did you want and not get?
a new house
26. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I was 34 and spent it on a scrapbooking retreat
27. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
purple crocs and jeans
28. What kept you sane?
my computer and the friends that ‘live’ inside it
29. What political issue stirred you the most?

the election in general

30. Who was the best new person you met?

hmm now that one is tough…..I really should get out and meet some new people I think…perhaps the assistant principal at Owen’s new school – because even b4 he started at school she appears to give a damn!

Getting ready for school

This morning we went to spotlight in the hope of getting something to jazz up the somewhat unsatisfactory blue art smock that I bought for Owen….you see me as a bad mummy just went well its a smock it’s cheap it will do….then I realised that it might have been a little mean to do such things to a boy who is just soo excited to be starting school. So at spotlight we went in search of something to iron onto the smock….nothing….looked at their smocks..nothing….and so now what do we have….2m of red/black check fabric and a pattern for a smock and now – yes you guessed it…Mummy is going to have to SEW …on FABRIC….and not for a scrapbook layout! eek!

I got Owen’s paperwork for his assessment today too. Am grateful for scrapbooking and blogging as I will be able to go through my old stuff to make some notes.

I have also arranged for him to go to a friends after school on the day I have to go without him so thankfully that much has all been sorted out now.
