we are heading back to Adelaide in a few weeks.
I know many people say that I am crazy….something about 3 small boys and a 9ish hour drive. I do enjoy driving…sometimes it would be nice to be able to switch drivers but as Owen is only 8 I guess that isn’t going to happen for a while.
The trip will be different this time as I have Owen sitting in the front which gives everyone more elbow space. It does however mean that the picnic basket of snacks will have to go in the back seat, hopefully Brett and Corey will behave. Other option might be to pack separate lunch boxes for each kid which could be a workable idea. They are all a bit older too which makes it easier (its been 9 months since our last trip). I think I have decided to go get some stable tables for them so they can do some drawing (pencils only) and have something to drive their cars on etc.
They want to stop at the big koala this time so we will be mixing up the stops a little too. And I’ve learnt that it is better to eat in the car and stop to play than try to get them to eat when all they want to do is play!
I am prattling…probably because I should be in bed!
Ok so I’m not going to earn any medals but I think, seeing as I have been down at the local indoor pool swimming laps for 30-40min every Thursday afternoon for the last 3 weeks now, that it is safe to say that I can actually swim properly. Perhaps not well or fast but I can definitely swim.
Given that I had a few lessons as a child and then didn’t swim at all from 8yrs old til the start of this year I think that is something to be proud of. I am amazed (and very thankful) that so many people who heard I was learning to swim didn’t laugh at me as I had anticipated but praised me for doing it instead. I am gaining confidence and fitness every day I swim and owe a lot to all my friends who encouraged me with this one.
So thats 7 out of 50 crossed off now with 43 to go…
I will be 50 in about 170 months so 170/43 = 3.95….so I guess if I keep crossing one thing off every 3-4 months I will make it
ok so I guess I disappeared again….
what have I been doing?
not a lot really. I have been enjoying work, although I am still struggling a little with the lack of a day off to myself. I am enjoying my time with Corey though and trying to make better use of my evenings and weekends….
I had THE BEST time when Sue was here – even did a bit of scrapping and lots of shopping, something I would definitely like to repeat.
Have done a little bit of SU stuff – looking forward to my new Calendar Card Box Class in October.
Brett was invested at Joey scouts – photos to come they are on the other PC. He was very excited.
what else….oh yes Brett turned 6! how did I forget that…amidst a pile of lego and chocolate icecream cake Brett turned 6…and of course to celebrate at school at lunchtime he ran head first into a concrete table (failed to stop or duck far enough in time) and came home about 1.30 with a HUGE egg on his head. He is/was ok though thank goodness – and yes photos of that to come too!
Owen is reading early chapter books – we have ordered the magic school bus ones from bookclub – love that my book purchases help to support the school too.
what else…oh I got itchy feet and decided I needed to get away so I took the kids to the Grampians for the weekend not just gone but the one before. We had a lovely weekend…lots of walking …again photos later….
I’ve been going swimming on Thursdays after work as the boys have after school sport so don’t need to be picked up til 4pm. It gives me 30min of swimming laps at the local indoor pool. Its not as nice as the other centre (water is colder and there are more people around) but I am improving and getting some exercise so I guess its all good.
and now that just about brings us up to date I guess….
will try to stay in touch better.
I have new discount coupons for October and November. The same deal as previous months which is pay for one adult and get one adult free OR pay for one adult and get 2 kids free.
I am very excited to have won a prize for referring the most people. The boys and I get to go and have a family potrait done at Red Hill Studios at Sovereign Hill!
