Xmas Countdown….14 more sleeps

I started wrapping pressies tonight…what fun!  Am hoping to send a heap off with Gramps when he comes to visit in a couple of days!

I did some kinder help today too and really had fun.  I’m going back tomorrow as they are a bit short of helpers (right when they need them the most) and besides I get to put a cool xmas tree decoration thingo up on the window – i started but had to get the kids off to daddy’s so didn’t have time to finish….

And so we move on to another Christmas memory….

Move on to Sydney…trying to think how old but not sure I can remember maybe 11?

I got my first ever walkman (tape player) and my first tape of my own (the soundtrack to ghost busters)!  That *may* have been the same year we got our rollerskates…certainly I remember spending a lot of time skating around under our double carport with the walkman clipped to my shorts and turned up loud – yes me singing badly and most likely quite a lot louder than I THOUGHT I was singing…

What more memories of that time….I may be mixing years/days but I suspect it was one that we went to Aunty Lucy’s (mum’s Aunt) for Christmas and we swam in her above ground pool, Nathan got bitten by her sausage dog who had just had pups…Graham (our second cousin) wrapped Sue’s present (a watch) up in a full roll of masking tape much to her disgust.

my walkman was certainly a treasured gift – I was over the moon – I still remember sitting on the big old fashioned green couch (which I always thought was the ugliest thing ever) opening it up!

Xmas Countdown….15 more sleeps

It’s almost here….and it has me remembering so many Christmas’s past….so as a challenge to me to actually blog more often….I thought I might try to (at least every 2nd day until xmas) bore you to tears with a Christmas memory from previous years…

We won’t go last xmas which was meant to be awesome as was the first time in several years that my whole family were together for xmas day and actually turned out rather ordinary as ex and I weren’t getting on well and so it was rather full of tension….oops I said we wouldn’t go there and I did!

I remember the Christmas in Badnock (sp?) st in Mt Gambier I would have been ummm just turned 8…..not sure if we knew yet at that stage that we would be moving interstate to Sydney not that long after woods (march I think?).  I remember I got a wooden dolls high chair for Xmas….and we all got a trampoline!  But I remember my cousin Carl jumping off the bunk beds and breaking my high chair to pieces…he broke my poor little 8 yr old heart with his indifference!  seems so petty now.  That was around the time we had a family pic taken of all of Grans Grandchildren together…the youngest was then about 3 months old…he is now 21 I think….and yet that was the last time we were all together…who would have thought then as we played backyard cricket after lunch that Christmas day that we would never be all together again.  Back then it was a reasonably common occurrence!  I’d share the pic but my scanner isn’t working!  Oh I remember something else too….Gran gave me and my sister and two cousins the same dresses… in pink and blue…little summer thin strapped dresses…I remember wearing it a lot that summer too!
Truly I remember warm happy family times – and yet that year is marked by the destruction of my favourite new toy before it was a year old rofl!  mental note here to make the next one a tad more cheerful!

Thankyou

two posts in one day I know I know…

but I just had to add this little challenge….

take some time – just a few minutes this week to say thanks to someone…thats all – simple really.

I deal with hundreds of emails EVERY day.  Yesterday I got an email that simply said thankyou to me for doing my job but it was beautifully written and totally made my evening..today another little thankyou (on my blog) left me feeling warm and fuzzy again……….

so if you love the warm fuzzy feeling – share it with someone else – say thankyou. It may be something someone has done – or even just a kind comment about well behaved children in the xmas crazed shops….say something nice and make someones day….go on I dare you!

All systems go…

kids are all better and so am I woohoo!

Xmas shopping almost completed!

Best news of all. My new homeloan has been approved (just waiting on the paperwork to sign). Transfer of ownership has been signed and lodged with conveyencer so that I will own the house in my own name (and the mortgage) before Xmas!

To celebrate I am going to drop a hammer on my kitchen tiles and shovel them all up and rip out my old (falling apart from water damage from leaking tap) kitchen and put in a brand spanking new IKEA kitchen.  AM very excited – a little concerned but should be ok.  Have been getting all the dollars sorted and I should have enough (nothing much left over though so hoping nothing much goes wrong along the way)!

Chrisco is coming tomorrow (so is plumber to quote me on the renos lol) so today is clean up day so I have room for all the chrisco stuff!

Got some good news this morning – there is no kinder on the 21st dec so I don’t have to split myself into two for end of term functions.  IT gets better…the kinder are having an end of year concert AND it is on when my DAD (GRAMPS) will be visiting – he is only going to be here for 2 nights so how lucky is THAT!  Owen is pretty happy about it and so is Gramps.

anyway back to the grind – I’m off to see what I can do about constructing a sandpit for my boys.  (in order to avoid what i really should be doing – ie cleaning the kitchen….but the dishwasher is washing some dishes at least)!

oh and my scanner died….may it rest in peace….not happy it is only a couple of years old – worked one day – didn’t work the next no lights nothing…..miss my scanner.

stay away from here people!

yup don’t come too close as it seems that we (except for Corey so far at least) have gastro….Owen has even taken to putting himself to bed and has barely said ‘I’m hungry’ at all for the last 2 days. Thankfully it seems they have gotten past the throwing up but still have fever, runs, lack of appetite and general lathergy……..fun fun fun – so many things i need to do but nothing getting done at present as I’m just about ready for bed now – and it is what 8.30pm….. can’t wait til this is over…no kinder yesterday (or swimming), none tomorrow either….daycare on wednesday is looking highly unlikely too as is kinder or playgroup on thursday just to be on the safe side. had already cancelled swimming for friday as chrisco is coming
